From The Making of Kubrick’s 2001:

Stanley Kubrick: “There was never any interest in relating the slab to Stonehenge.”

Arthur C. Clarke: “I’m sure Stanley and I talked about Stonehenge, but I can’t remember the specific details. I don’t know if Stan has been to Stonehenge, I have many times.”

Stanley Kubrick: “Too far to go(d?).”
